Blancco Aims at Data Sanitization Process Improvement
JOENSUU, FINLAND – June 29, 2007 – Blancco Ltd., the world’s leading data erasure software company has two new product versions that are aimed at usability, license control and better report tracking and grouping. The new versions combine speed, security and efficiency to deliver a superior quality, highly secure software designed to overcome the challenges concerning the disposal of electronic data, which is imperative in today’s digital age.
The frequency of leaked data is on the rise and the Privacy Rights Clearing House estimates that more than 350 data loss cases involving more than 140 million records have occurred since February 2005. “Mounting regulatory pressure and the cost of data leaks have forced corporations to re-evaluate their data security policies. Often, the missing link in most data security policies is the lack of proper measures for ensuring the safe and complete removal of data from obsolete IT Assets,” says Mikko Koponen, Product Director of Blancco Ltd.

License holders will have a far easier time managing users of their data erasure licenses as an Enterprise level user who assigns Group Admin users, who in turn, assign User levels.
This tier system is proven to be more manageable for monitoring license usage because it will allow the upper levels of the tier to see who used the licenses and where they are being used the most or least through exact statistical tracking abilities via a simple account login. The three levels of users are also given modifiable rights from their assigning level, which actually will determine how much access they have, and what they can see. Installation is much easier as well with a completely automated installation CD. “Our BWS 1.2 features will most definitely give our customers a new and improved world when it comes to usability, automated installation and license management.
The three user level system allows for each group to know exactly what the users below them are doing, and the Enterprise level user to see the entire view in terms of used licenses, reporting and statistical information to name a few. Furthermore, improved reporting and asset management capabilities in the new version also provide additional security and improve the integrity of the erasure.
The unique ID number of every erasure report facilitates the auditing process while eliminating human error, thus ensuring that assets are data-free before being resold or recycled. In addition, the improved functionality of the hex viewer enhances security by allowing the user to easily scan all the sectors on the hard drive in order to verify that the entire hard drive has been completely erased.
