• Failing to manage and protect data properly could put data at risk of being exposed and potentially breached. 28 percent of organizations admitted they have been hit by a data breach in the last 12 months.
• Delayed breach notification could intensify corporate challenges with regulatory compliance. Despite EU GDPR’s 72 hour breach notification requirement, 13 percent of the surveyed IT professionals said it takes between one and twelve months to notify regulatory authorities.
• In the past organizations have not been as proactive or invested heavily in adhering to NIST and ISO data protection guidelines. However, organizations may be changing their mind set for the better with 88 percent of the surveyed IT professionals describing these data protection guidelines as either ‘very important’ or ‘important.’
